Game 2: Egypt v Uruguay
Well this went the way that was expected. Salah wasn’t fit and didn’t play, as I predicted. Uruguay did win, but it was a close run thing, Jose Gimenez heading into the Egyptian net in the 90th minute.
Up until that point the Egyptian side looked like earning a point, even though they looked toothless without Mo Salah. As for Uruguay, Suarez looked out of touch, mesmerising approach work, but missing the killer instinct, missing four clear chances as well.
Still, job done for the South American side, three points and looking forward to what might well be the key match in this group, against the host nation on the 25th June.
As for Egypt, their fans will be hoping that Salah will be fit for their next match against Russia on Tuesday.
